The GmoaKeller is one of the oldest Inns in the city of Vienna. The house and premises were built in 1858 by Mr. Oelzelt when the city expanded.

It is said that this was a secret meeting place of Crown Prince Rudolf and his mistress Mary Vetsera.

In 1940, vineyards of Gols (situated in the Neusiedlersee Area) and since that time became well known as the „Golser Gmoa-Keller“.

After World War II, famous jazz musicians, such as Joe Zawinul and Fatty George performed in the cellar. The bowling alley was open until 1970.

The Inn was made famous by owner, Grete Novak, who is remembered by the regular guests not only for her specially prepared fried liver.

Since April 1st, 2000 we have reopened the GmoaKeller: Keeping with tradition the outer appearance remained unchanged, only behind the scenes we have adapted the Inn to the modern standards of the 21st Century.
